Didn’t I announce back in March that my Quarantine Diary was done?

Argh. Never say never.

I assumed after two vaccines it was okay to meander the world as long as we are mindful of kids and people with fragile immune systems. So put on the mask in public places and don’t be overtly stupid.

It’s time for me to end this Quarantine Diary. This has been a place to sort what we were hearing and seeing. So many, including the former president and his minions, said Covid would not be a big deal. Medical and science experts said otherwise.

Show us Trump and Fauci standing next to each other? That wasn’t a hard choice. We went with science.

I have now had both Covid vaccinations with no miserable side effects after either of them. Color me grateful.

I read recently that some people with long-haul symptoms are finding surprising relief after receiving the first vaccination. Have you heard this? I hope it’s true.

I was ready on Wednesday to do this post when I learned Windows wanted me to do an update ASAP; that took most of that day. Thursday was my Festival of Third Grade Pen Pals. One whippersnapper addressed me as Dear Mrs. Danyolsin and now I sort of want to spell my name this way forever.

I thought today would be a languorous day devoted to writing.

Not.

Mittens like to sit on the windowsill and look in. Ellie is not happy about this.

“Being deeply loved by someone gives you strength, while loving someone deeply gives you courage.” ― Lao Tzu

Yes, the offer is REAL! Send me photos (maybe 2 or 3) of your pets and I will post those photos here this week. This will be our Valentine to each other.

My personal goal is to write this in one day. Sometimes my thoughts and ideas fly and dip like ‘always soaring never landing’ albatrosses – but do you know what happens to people who pursue albatrosses? They end up in the drink. Which is where more of my writing ends than you’d think.

This week I received a Covid vaccine. Last week Len and I received emails from Froedtert that they were making vaccination appointments for people already registered in their system who are over 65. I’ve never been so glad to be so old. We signed up, I got the shot (Pfizer) this week, Len gets his tomorrow.

How many feelings have you cycled through since the Inauguration? I’ve been the Lance Armstrong (without the drugs or cancer) of ups, downs, responses, relief, and outrage.

I read that the Twitter word trending last Thursday morning was “slept.” As in “I slept well last night for the first time in four years. How about you?”

“You know me, I think there ought to be a big old tree right there. And let's give him a friend. Everybody needs a friend.” ― Bob Ross

This tree lives in Waukesha and stopped me in my tracks when I was out for a walk.
